Do good deeds! It's that simple. For us, there is profound satisfaction in helping others.  We in Rotary believe in "service above self".  If you share our philosophy and are willing to make good things happen, we would welcome you.  Join us!  In Rotary, many rich friendships are formed.  No other organization has Rotary's capacity to do good things both locally and throughout the world.  Our club is involved in many projects each year that improve the quality of life in our own community.  Additionally, through Rotary International, we are able to join forces with other Rotary Clubs and significantly improve the lives of people all over the world.

Please see some of the good things our Leavenworth Rotary Club is doing right now. View our Featured Community Project and our Featured International Project on the community service pages of this website.  Also, view many of our current club projects, which are highlighted on the community service pages of our website.  We'd like you to be part of our ongoing efforts.

Our commendable accomplishments include the worldwide eradication of polio!  It has been a twenty-year project -- more ambitious than the world believed possible.  Rotarians have committed time, money, and tremendous effort. We have worked with national governments and the World Health Organization…the task is nearly completed.  After a five-year monitoring period, a polio-free world will be declared!  Our reward…the satisfaction of helping to make a better world. We are always looking for new members, men and women, who want to do the most they can to make a better community and a better world.  Join Rotary because Rotary is the most effective way!  Be a force for peace and better living worldwide by becoming a member of Rotary today!

We'd like you to join us and be a part of our ongoing efforts!  Email Joel Grodberg

Rotary means a lot to me. It has created an opportunity for good fellowship with men and women who are leaders in our community. Also, Rotary and Rotarians are dedicated to serving the community where they live, and in addition, people in need worldwide. I have always believed I have a responsibility to others; and, Rotary helps me fulfill that obligation.

Rotary helped me make a career change!  In 1990 I took a job different from the the teaching positions I had held in the past.  I became the manager of a local non-profit agency.  My biggest concern was that as a new resident to Leavenworth, I did not know the town and county, its businesses or its people.  My predecessor suggested sponsoring me for Rotary Club 1621 to help me meet my new community.  Through Rotary I have been able to meet fellow Rotarians, learn from its informative programs and become active in community projects.  My view of Rotary before entering was that it was a men's group but I was quickly made to feel at home.  As one of the early women members I have seen a steady increase in the number of women in the club as well as their level of responsibility within the organization.  Rotary Club 1621 is a diverse group of interested, interesting local citizens!"

"Why I'm a Rotarian"

Being a person of modest means, I was looking for a meaningful way to contribute to the community in which I live-a way in which my efforts would be more than a drop in the bucket.  Being a member of Leavenworth Rotary Club 1621 was the answer.  The synergy developed by the Rotarian effort allows me, and my wife, to make a difference in the community, the country and the world.  Our monetary contributions for world health and humanitarian projects are multiplied because of matching funds from Rotary; we are able to support the youth of the community through contributions to the scholarship fund; and through Rotary efforts, we can contribute to the community in ways not normally open to us as individuals- e.g. my wife is a mentor for a child at a local elementary school.

Thanks to Rotary, we feel that we are making a difference - in the world and in our community.  We have also gotten to know many Rotarians in the State of Kansas-people who feel the same way we do.  Friendships have developed, and we enjoy working together for the greater good of our fellow man.  I can think of no better way to make a difference."

Service Above Self

is the motto of Rotary International.  For me it has not only been a motto that the Rotarians of The Leavenworth Rotary Club follow but it provides the opportunity to serve.  The programs of the Leavenworth Rotary Club provide a very diverse range of areas in which one can serve.

The mentoring program in a local elementary school has provided me the opportunity to be with a kindergarten class for one hour a week during the past three years.  When I received a Christmas card from a single parent that said, 'Mr. Kromer know that you are having a positive impact on Andrew,' payment had been received in full.

If you have a desire to serve, contact one of our Rotarians, we will be glad to help."
